SkyMiles (Medallion) status match & challenge (2026)
SkyMiles (Medallion) offers a status match to Silver, Gold or Platinum (Diamond generally not a match target) (Free). A status challenge to Silver, Gold or Platinum is available. The fastest route is the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card, which grants MQDs toward all Medallion tiers.
Platinum Medallion is the sweet spot — unlimited complimentary first-class upgrades plus an annual Choice Benefit (companion cert or Sky Club passes) without Diamond's $28,000 spend.

Fastest card route to status
Grants MQDs toward all Medallion tiers — MQD Headstart grants $2,500 MQDs each qualification year just for holding the card, plus 1 MQD per $10 spent (double the Platinum card rate, no cap). Year-to-year MQD rollover policy was UNVERIFIED at research time. Annual fee $650.
